Is this right for my skin?
Sunlight Serum is formulated for all skin types, tones, and genders, including sensitive and melanin-rich skin. It's particularly loved by women whose skin has been changing with age or life stage, including perimenopause and menopause. Saffron has been used in Indian skin traditions for centuries on deeper skin tones, and the oil-soluble Vitamin C in our formula is gentler than the water-soluble version found in most serums. Please note the formula contains Sweet Almond Oil (not suitable for those with nut allergies) and essential oils, so although used in very safe concentrations, we err on the side of caution and don't recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding; our Moonlight Serum is pregnancy-safe instead.
When will I actually see a difference?
Most customers notice their skin looks more radiant, feels more hydrated, and shows improvement in tone within 8 to 16 weeks of daily use. For stubborn pigmentation and dark spots, allow up to 24 weeks. If you're a few weeks in and not sure whether it's working, that's completely normal. Some customers also experience a brief dry phase in the first week or two as their skin adjusts; applying to slightly damp skin usually resolves it.
What makes this different from other Vitamin C serums?
Most Vitamin C serums use L-Ascorbic Acid, which is water-soluble, oxidises quickly, and can feel harsh on reactive skin. Sunlight Serum uses Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, an oil-soluble form of Vitamin C that stays stable in the bottle and feels gentler on skin. The formula is also 0% water and 100% active ingredients, so every drop is doing something. It's designed to sit well under SPF and makeup without feeling greasy.
Do I need SPF on top?
Yes, always wear SPF as the final step in your morning routine. Unlike some Vitamin C formulas, Sunlight Serum is not photosensitive, so daylight won't make your skin more reactive. Apply 2-3 drops to slightly damp skin, let it settle for a minute or two, then apply your SPF on top. You can always add more drops if your skin is on the drier side (listen to your skin). Many customers also add a drop into their foundation for a softer, more radiant finish.
Does it contain fragrance?
Sunlight Serum has a distinctive warm, Ayurvedic scent that comes from the natural essential oils in the formula: calming Lavender, grounding Clary Sage, softly floral Ylang-Ylang, and a bright note of Orange Peel. There are no added synthetic fragrances, just the natural aromas of these botanicals coming together. For many customers, this is part of what makes the morning ritual feel intentional, like a few quiet seconds of spa before the day begins. The scent is most noticeable at first application and settles within a couple of minutes as the serum absorbs.
Will it feel oily, and does it sit well under makeup?
Despite being an oil-based formula, Sunlight Serum is designed to absorb fully into the skin rather than sit on top. The key is applying it to slightly damp skin and pressing it in gently rather than rubbing. Most customers find it sits beautifully under both SPF and makeup, and many use it as a natural primer. Some even mix a drop into their foundation for a softer, more radiant finish. If your skin feels oily, try using less; a little really does go a long way.
Can I use it alongside retinol, acids, or other active ingredients?
Yes, Sunlight Serum layers well with most skincare routines. If you use stronger actives like prescription retinoids or exfoliating acids, we recommend keeping those for the evening and using Sunlight Serum in the morning. Many of our customers pair it with our own Moonlight Serum at night, which uses Bakuchiol as a gentler alternative to retinol. If you're on prescription medication or treatment for a skin condition, it's always worth checking with your GP or dermatologist first.

If you take skincare seriously you are going to want to buy this product… not only does it smell beautiful and make your skin feel like silk it does what it claims… although I have only been using the product for a couple of weeks I can already see a difference in pigmentation… I’m so impressed I’ve already bought the next bottle for when I run out… 😃
I've had my old skincare for 7 years and although it worked at the beginning they kept changing formulas and I could not bear the changes on my skin so I thought I would give karmic a try after eyeing it for a couple of years now. I absolutely love how its lightweight. I don't look greasy and dirty when I apply it. It also doesnt transfer on my hijab which is a problem with my old skincare. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks so I have not seen changes yet but overall I like the oil. I'm keen to try other products from this brand.

I have bought the KARMIC Sunlight and Moonlight serum and have used it for the past 18/20 days. My initial concerns of some fine wrinkles lines round my eyes and pigmentation has definitely seemed to improve but have noticed some dryness around my nose. I had thought the serums are oil based so wouldn’t cause the dryness but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I use around 6 drops of the serum for every application. Overall it’s a 4/5…
